There's been so much written about us in the press recently that we've made a separate page of links. Here they are in reverse order, with the most recent at the top. Let us know if we've missed any.


  • 21st May 2008. Front page article in Guardian Society
    There's an excellent article in the Society section of today's Guardian. It's about Jackie, and summarises our campaign so far as well as talking about our plans for Secondaries. See the online version of the article here.

  • 14th January 2007. Competition. Wimbledon Guardian reports the launch of Merton Parents' Dining Room Experience Competition.
  • 13th December 2006. You and Yours - Radio 4.
    Jackie, Chair of Merton Parents was on You and Yours talking about how children are reacting to having healthier food on the menu at school. You can hear an mp3 of the 17 minute slot, by clicking here.

  • 6th November 2006. Jackie on the BBC. Jackie Schneider, Chair of Merton Parents, gave two interviews on the BBC. The first was on BBC Breakfast talking about the apparent drop in children eating school meals, and the second on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 show debating with a rather controversial Prof. Marks.   • 25th September 2006. Jackie goes to Rotherham. Article in This is Local London (Wimbledon Guardian) about Jackie going to meet the Mums in Rotherham.
  • 6th April 2006. Wimbledon Guardian Article talking about our first AGM and the challenges ahead in our second year.
  • 20th February 2006. New Statesman quotes Jackie from Merton Parents. The article talks about how the majority of the members of the government's recently formed School Food Trust come from private catering and vending firms. And guess what - despite widespread parental opposition to vending machines, they look set to stay in schools. Check out Jackie's excellent response.
  • 24th November 05. Wimbledon Post reports how the Council quickly reinstated the Feed Me Better menus at Priory when there was outcry from parents.
  • 27th October 05. Article in The Wimbledon Guardian about Merton Parents and our desire to see the Jamie Oliver menus throughout the Borough. We also pass comment on the imminent price increase.
  • 30th September 05. Schools trialling the 'Feed Me Better' menus say that the number of children eating school meals has more than doubled according to The Wimbledon Guardian
  • 29th September 05. The Wimbledon Post, has another another article about how popular the trial menus have been in schools that have tried them so far.
  • 23rd September 05. Local Guardian article talking about the success of the 'Feed Me Better' menus tested in 4 Merton schools, prompted by our campaign.
  • 15th September 05. There was quite a frenzy of National press activity when Gorringe Park published new photos of its meals. TV coverage included London Tonight, GMTV, Newsround (CBBC) and Sky News, There were also been articles in The Mirror, The Standard, The Daily Mail and The Guardian - see below.
  • 15th September 05. The Mirror Article talking about Gorringe Park and how the photos on their (and our) website helped make them a trial school for Jamie Oliver's Menus.
  • 15th September 05. Daily Mail Similar to the above - an article about Gorringe park. The printed version had lots of pictures too.
  • 5th September 05. Jackie Schneider (vice-chair of Merton Parents) made an impressive contribution as part of a panel on the Simon Mayo show on Radio 5 live, discussing school meals.
  • 2nd September 05. Local GUARDIAN Front page article discussing our insistance that the Council includes more accurate information to parents about the nature of the food being served from October 05.
  • 17th August 05. HOTEL AND CATERER reports on meetings of the Merton School Meals Planning Group where we've met resistance from the Council to unambiguous naming of food on menus.
  • 16th June 05. WIMBLEDON POST reports on our meeting addressed by Jeanette Orrey and attended by Council Leaders.
  • 9th June 05. WIMBLEDON POST talks more about the primary schools which may not have suitable space to prepare their food.

  • 2nd June 05. WIMBLEDON POST talks about our forthcoming meeting with Jeanette Orrey on 6th June as well as the difficulties some Primary schools have with space for food preparation.
  • 24th May. DAILY MIRROR. Andrew Judge (Council Leader) is quoted thanking the paper for highlighting their dogs dinner and vowing to work with parents to improve them.

  • 25th April 2005. The Guardian (national) front page article mentioning our campaign

  • 27th April 2005. The Guardian website Letters in response to the article including a very defensive response by the Council Leader Andrew Judge. Apparently he's hardly heard any complaints about the food in our schools...
